The aim of AZKIM is to improve patient care with complementary medicine in the sense of integrative medicine at the participating university hospitals. This means providing patients with increased access to scientifically based naturopathic and complementary medicine approaches in addition to conventional therapies.

The University Center for Naturopathy has existed at the University Hospital Freiburg since 2008. At the Ambulance for Naturopathy located here, approximately 5,000 consultations and treatments in naturopathy and complementary medicine are performed annually. • tumor diseases

  • chronic pain (fibromyalgia, back pain, headache) and

  • functional disorders (e.g. irritable bowel syndrome).

Treatment is provided by specialists who are thoroughly trained in both conventional and complementary medicine.
